Tariq A. Tamimi, president of Tamimi Group of Companies, inaugurates the expanded and renovated Tamimi supermarket at Al-Khobar Corniche.
AL-KHOBAR – Tamimi Markets, the pioneer of modern supermarket concept in Saudi Arabia, reopened its first branch which started in 1979 in Al-Khobar Corniche after major renovation and restructuring.
As part of reopening inauguration, Tamimi supermarket is offering huge discounts and promotions.
Wholly-owned by the Al Tamimi family, it carries the largest range of branded food and non-food products supported by local suppliers and its own international import department.
Tariq A. Tamimi, President of Tamimi Group of Companies, and one of the sons of Ali Tamimi, the group founder, told the Saudi Gazette that Tamimi Markets retail philosophy is to supply its customer the widest choice of product of the highest and freshest quality at the fairest price. “This will continue to be our philosophy as we proceed with our planned expansion program.”
“This particular store is very special to our family and has sentimental value because this is the first store our father started back in 1979. From here, we grew and expanded to become one of the leading supermarket chains in the Kingdom,” he said.
“Our major focus is on providing Saudi customers with international quality products at very good price. We are also planning to spread our wings to neighboring GCC countries in the near future,” he said.
Tamimi Markets now has 14 outlets in the Kingdom, making it one of the biggest retailers of food and provisions in the country. With four stores in the Eastern Province, it is looking at additional sites in Jubail, Ahsa and Dammam.
Fawaz T. Tamimi, head of Business Development Division of Tamimi Group, told Saudi Gazette that they have restructured the store keeping in mind the changing needs of the modern Saudi society. “We have renovated or remodeled our store according to changing and growing needs of our customers, for example some 15 years ago, people were not aware of organic products as they are now. So we have to keep watching the changing needs of our customers and provide them what they want,” he said.
“We will never use any unethical ways to get our cash back, for us the trust and faith and relations with our customers are more important than money. While remodeling our store, we kept in mind what our customers asked us,” he added.
Muhsen S. Husain, General Manager of Tamimi Food Division, said the store, which is open round-the-clock, has a strategic location.
